Peddapalli MP Condemns Centre Over NEET-UG Mismanagement

Hyderabad: The Peddapalli Member of Parliament has launched a sharp attack on the Centre, holding the government responsible for endangering the academic prospects of hundreds of thousands of students through successive examination mishaps. Gaddam Vamsi Krishna charged that authorities failed to maintain the credibility of the medical entrance test before subsequently holding candidates accountable for administrative failures.

In his public statement, the Congress legislator highlighted the suspected leak of the question paper that forced authorities to cancel the May 3 NEET-UG 2026 examination. He also took issue with the policy that barred candidates from sitting for the June 21 re-test because they arrived at examination halls a few minutes past the deadline.

The MP emphasised that students had invested considerable time and effort preparing for the examination. Yet, he contended, the administration opted to discipline candidates rather than rectify the systemic breakdowns that precipitated the disruption. According to Vamsi Krishna, the trauma endured by students and families turned away from examination venues represents an enduring challenge.

The MP directed his criticism at Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to prioritise protecting students' educational trajectories instead of "toying with their aspirations." He also demanded enhanced transparency and responsibility in how national entrance examinations are executed.

The controversy has generated mounting public backlash. Reports from multiple metropolitan areas documented instances of students experiencing emotional breakdowns after being barred from examinations due to traffic congestion and administrative confusion at test centres. This has triggered growing apprehension regarding examination administration practices nationwide.

The National Testing Agency has come under sustained scrutiny for repeated operational shortcomings in managing India's premier medical entrance examination. Recent events have intensified calls for more robust protective measures and a system that places greater emphasis on student welfare during examination administration.
