NEET Cancellation Takes Toll on Student Mental Health, Says EdTech Founder

The cancellation of the NEET examination represents far more than a logistical setback for aspirants—it strikes at the heart of years of dedication, discipline and personal sacrifice, according to Saurabh Mangrulkar, founder and CEO of EventBEEP, a Pune-based EdTech startup.

Mangrulkar emphasised the profound emotional toll such disruptions inflict on young people already navigating intense competitive pressures and career uncertainties. "Students feel emotionally drained, anxious and unsure about their future," he noted. "They put in months or even years of preparation under a lot of pressure."

The repeated cancellations risk undermining student confidence and exacerbating mental health concerns at a critical juncture in their academic journeys, he cautioned. Beyond the immediate academic impact, such disruptions compound the existing stress young people face regarding their professional prospects.

Mangrulkar stressed the necessity of maintaining examination integrity and transparency. "It's crucial to make sure exams are fair and transparent," he stated, adding that the system must safeguard diligent students from bearing the consequences of institutional failures.

Moving forward, he advocated for a shift in focus toward providing clarity and reassurance to affected candidates. Students require transparent communication about next steps and reliable institutional frameworks that honour their efforts and commitment. "Students need a system they can trust. One that values their efforts and ensures honest students don't suffer because of problems with the system," Mangrulkar said.
