Hyderabad hotel worker held in connection with alleged terror network links to Pakistan

Police in Hyderabad's Medchal district have taken into custody a hotel employee suspected of maintaining links with terror networks operating from Pakistan and transmitting confidential information across social media channels.

The detained individual, identified as Zaheed Khan from Uttar Pradesh, was employed as a waiter at Mubarak Hotel in Medchal. Investigators indicate that Khan relocated to Hyderabad in February and subsequently joined the hotel staff.

According to the police investigation, Khan maintained regular contact with operatives based in Pakistan through Instagram. The probe has uncovered evidence suggesting he repeatedly expressed a desire to travel to Pakistan for participation in terror-related training activities.

Investigators claim that handlers operating from Pakistan instructed Khan to collect and relay information pertaining to certain public figures and security protocols. Authorities suspect he transmitted some of this information through digital communication channels.

The police investigation also documented that Khan regularly consumed terror-related video content and posted images of firearms on social media platforms. During the search operation, authorities recovered one mobile phone and two replica pistols from his residence.

Officials state that Khan engaged with individuals connected to Pakistan's intelligence services despite understanding the national security ramifications of such contact. The investigation team is currently examining his digital communications and attempting to recover deleted data from his devices.

The recovered mobile phone contains Instagram reels, WhatsApp conversations, image screenshots, and voice communication records relevant to the case. Specialized intelligence and counter-intelligence units have joined the investigation to thoroughly analyse the digital materials.

During the investigation process, authorities identified one individual based in Pakistan suspected of involvement in terror-related operations. Police are cross-referencing Khan's contacts and mapping his online network to identify any additional connections.

Khan remains in police custody as investigators pursue further questioning. The probe is ongoing as authorities work to establish the full scope of his alleged activities and any potential network connections.
