New Delhi: Matrix Geo Solutions Limited, a geospatial technology and engineering consultancy firm, has been selected to implement Digital Twin technology for a new broad-gauge railway corridor being developed in partnership with the Ajmer Division of Indian Railways.

The project scope encompasses a proposed rail route linking Taranga Hill and Abu Road through Ambaji. The initiative will harness geospatial information and three-dimensional modelling capabilities to facilitate infrastructure planning and design alignment.

As part of its engagement, Matrix Geo will conduct drone-mounted LiDAR surveys across the proposed alignment. These aerial surveys are designed to gather comprehensive ground-level information, which will be processed into topographic maps, digital elevation models, and orthophoto mosaics. This foundational data will serve as the basis for subsequent design and analytical work.

The company will construct a detailed 3D Digital Twin representing the existing landscape and its environs. This virtual model will incorporate various landscape features including structures, thoroughfares, plant cover, hydrological features, and utility networks, providing a comprehensive visualization of the project zone.

An additional three-dimensional representation of the railway corridor itself will be created according to Level of Development 200 specifications. This model will encompass critical infrastructure components such as formation dimensions, boundary lines, bridge structures, tunnel sections, and railway station facilities.

"This engagement merges high-precision data collection with sophisticated 3D modelling to strengthen railway infrastructure development," stated Amit Sharma, Whole Time Director at Matrix Geo Solutions Limited. "Digital Twin platforms enable teams to validate and optimize designs prior to implementation. We are committed to establishing a dependable digital foundation that facilitates strategic planning, inter-departmental coordination, and sustained asset management," he added.

The deliverables will feature aerial-based simulations and dynamic visual walkthroughs of the proposed corridor. These visual outputs will facilitate stakeholder consultations and enhance communication about the project, while simultaneously supporting refinements to route selection, minimizing construction rework, and fostering improved coordination among project teams. The digital models developed can also be repurposed for ongoing operational and maintenance functions.

Through this undertaking, Matrix Geo is strengthening its portfolio in executing complex geospatial and digital infrastructure initiatives across various sectors. The project reinforces the company's contribution toward establishing more integrated and information-enabled transportation infrastructure networks throughout India.
