Maruti Suzuki Organizes Cricket Matches with Visually Impaired Players Through CSR Initiative

Maruti Suzuki India Limited recently organized a special sporting event bringing together its workforce with cricketers living with visual impairment. The friendly matches featured players from the Cricket Association for the Blind, Delhi (CABD), which operates as an affiliate of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI).
The event took place at the SportsCube Center for Excellence in Sector 70, Gurgaon, selected specifically for its fully accessible facilities designed to accommodate blind cricketers. The venue proved ideal for hosting the competition conducted under official blind cricket standards, complete with audible balls and modified regulations for batting, bowling, and fielding.
Maruti Suzuki employees competed in two 10-over matches against the CABD team, with both contests ending in victories for the visiting cricketers. The initiative formed part of the company's broader Employee Volunteering CSR Program, known as 'eParivartan', which emphasizes social inclusion while building empathy, mutual respect, and collaborative spirit among participants.
Reflecting on the experience, Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer of Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki, emphasized the learning opportunity the matches provided. "We are grateful to the Cricket Association for the Blind, Delhi, for facilitating this collaboration between our teams," Bharti stated. "Competing alongside these exceptional athletes demonstrated their remarkable abilities, resolve, and passion. This experience offers important lessons about genuine sportsmanship and the value of meaningful engagement with people from different backgrounds and those with disabilities. These kinds of interactions strengthen our capacity for empathy, reinforce principles of equality, and help us develop as more complete individuals."
The company presented cricket equipment to the Delhi-based association as part of the engagement.
The employee volunteering program achieved significant reach during the 2025-26 fiscal year. Maruti Suzuki's workforce contributed more than 2,600 volunteer hours through eParivartan, touching the lives of over 8,700 people across the community. Approximately 1,100 employees participated in diverse initiatives spanning more than 30 community projects, encompassing healthcare services, community support, educational programs, and youth development activities. Participants in these volunteering activities reported experiencing heightened feelings of positivity, calmness, and overall wellbeing following their involvement.
