Marriott and Espire Hospitality to Open JW Marriott Resort in Mathura's Kosi Kalan by 2029

April 26, 2026

Marriott International and Espire Hospitality Limited have formalized a partnership to establish a JW Marriott resort in Kosi Kalan, a burgeoning destination in Mathura district. The development marks Marriott's strategic expansion into the emerging hospitality market along the Delhi-Agra corridor.

The JW Marriott Kosi Kalan Resort & Spa is targeted for launch in January 2029 and will occupy 14 acres of landscaped grounds. The property aims to cater to travelers seeking refined accommodations combined with personalized service and distinctive experiences.

Espire Hospitality Limited, a publicly listed subsidiary of the Espire Group on the BSE, is among India's few hospitality firms that both own and operate their properties. The Espire Group operates across hospitality, IT solutions, and education sectors.

Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President for South Asia at Marriott International, described the venture as reflecting confidence in India's evolving travel market. "The introduction of the JW Marriott brand in Kosi Kalan is a strategic move that strengthens our presence in an emerging market while responding to growing demand for elevated, experience-led hospitality beyond traditional gateway cities," Andicot stated. He added that the development is expected to contribute meaningfully to regional tourism and economic growth.

Gagan Oberoi, Group CEO of Espire Hospitality, characterized the collaboration as significant for the company's luxury portfolio expansion. "JW Marriott Kosi Kalan Resort & Spa has been envisioned as a sanctuary of mindful luxury, where contemporary elegance meets nature, culture, and memorable experiences," Oberoi said.

The resort's location along the Delhi-Agra highway positions it within the culturally significant Braj region. Mathura, approximately 45 minutes away by car, holds religious importance as the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Vrindavan, about 50 minutes distant, attracts pilgrims to its temples and spiritual heritage sites.

Accessibility is enhanced through regional connectivity. A railway station sits 5 kilometers away, while Delhi's international airport is roughly 114 kilometers distant—approximately two hours by road. The forthcoming Noida International Airport will be approximately 1.5 hours away.

The resort will feature 151 guestrooms and suites, including villas with private pools. The property design incorporates multiple tranquil spaces for guest relaxation. Culinary offerings will comprise three distinct dining concepts, including a specialty restaurant and three lounge bars, alongside a rooftop pool bar.

Recreational amenities include multiple swimming pools, a fitness center, the signature Spa by JW, a children's club, and a recreational facility with tennis and multipurpose courts. The property will offer 950 square meters of meeting and social space, with an additional 2,395 square meters of outdoor lawns and a dedicated bridal suite, positioning it as a venue for weddings and corporate events.
