Law Will Take Its Course in Bandi Bhageerath POCSO Matter, Says Congress Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Mahesh Kumar Goud has stated that legal proceedings will proceed unimpeded in the POCSO case involving Bandi Bhageerath, reaffirming that the administration is adhering to proper legal channels.

During a media engagement on Wednesday, Goud emphasized that law enforcement agencies must take swift action against accused individuals once allegations surface in Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act cases. He cautioned that institutional difficulties would emerge if procedural requirements were not observed.

According to the PCC chief, available information indicates that Bandi Bhageerath has gone into hiding. Goud denied reports suggesting the accused had fled the country, stating he did not believe this to be the case.

Defending Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Goud characterized him as a steadfast Congress party member and dismissed suggestions of investigative delays. He pointed out that the Congress party itself had championed the POCSO legislation and therefore harbors no interest in shielding anyone implicated in such cases.

Goud reiterated the party's commitment to ensuring the victim receives justice and said the Congress would persist in its efforts toward this objective.

During the same media interaction, Goud took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, contending that Telangana had not received the anticipated assistance during his visit. He further claimed that the BJP was grappling with internal factional tensions that exceeded those within the Congress party.

The Congress chief also addressed matters related to state governance, agricultural procurement policies, and BJP operations across other Indian states.
