L&T Semiconductor Technologies Strengthens Power Electronics Design with Synopsys Partnership

May 12, 2026

Mumbai — L&T Semiconductor Technologies Ltd (LTSCT), the fabless semiconductor subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has entered into a multiyear licensing arrangement with Synopsys Inc. to bolster its capabilities in designing advanced power electronics and contribute to India's semiconductor sector growth.

Through the agreement, LTSCT will implement Synopsys' simulation software to expedite artificial intelligence-driven design and refinement of emerging power modules and intelligent power modules (IPMs). The partnership aims to streamline design processes, strengthen product reliability and shorten development timelines by combining simulation capabilities, physics-based modelling and data-driven intelligence throughout the design process.

"This partnership with Synopsys marks a crucial milestone in developing cutting-edge power solutions through AI-driven multiphysics simulation approaches. The collaboration allows LTSCT to work across chip, package and system design layers in an integrated manner. This will strengthen product dependability, compress development schedules and accelerate our market entry. Together, we're establishing a fresh approach to power electronics where performance, intelligence and environmental responsibility intersect," stated Sandeep Kumar, Chief Executive of LTSCT.

The arrangement grants LTSCT access to Synopsys' multiphysics simulation tools to refine design methodologies spanning chip, package and system architecture. As voltage specifications expand from 1.2 kV to 10 kV, meeting accelerated project schedules while maintaining design reliability and manufacturability demands sophisticated modelling that encompasses material characteristics, metallurgical properties, thermo-mechanical and electro-mechanical attributes. AI-powered simulation will facilitate optimisation across electrical, thermal and mechanical parameters, delivering enhanced functionality and dependability while lowering prototype expenses.

"This partnership represents a major advancement in strengthening India's semiconductor design expertise, particularly within the rapidly expanding intelligent power modules sector," remarked Padmesh Mandloi, Regional Vice President for Ansys Customer Excellence at Synopsys. "Following Synopsys' integration of Ansys, the expanded range of world-class multiphysics simulation capabilities combined with AI-accelerated design systems—delivering comprehensive solutions from silicon through systems architecture—will enable LTSCT to pioneer developments at the convergence of physics, data and machine intelligence. We support innovators like LTSCT in transforming power module design methodologies and delivering quicker, more dependable and power-efficient systems that will support India's transition to sustainable transportation and intelligent industrial processes."

The partnership will catalyse advancement across multiple industries, including electric vehicle technology, clean energy systems and industrial automation, fostering development of sophisticated intelligent power solutions.

LTSCT's initiatives will concentrate on creating unified module designs that incorporate power semiconductors, gate control systems, safety mechanisms and processing components in reduced dimensions. Leveraging AI-accelerated multiphysics modelling, LTSCT can now model chip, package and system performance simultaneously, strengthening design integrity and minimising prototype development expenses.

The multiyear arrangement demonstrates LTSCT's ongoing commitment to acquiring state-of-the-art design solutions and reinforces its role in advancing India's power electronics and semiconductor design infrastructure.
