BRS Leader Calls for Reversal of Recent LPG Price Increase

Hyderabad — At May Day commemorations held at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K. T. Rama Rao voiced strong opposition to recent LPG price increases, demanding their immediate reversal and accusing the Union government of burdening workers and the economically vulnerable.

The party leader asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central administration had raised LPG cylinder costs by approximately ₹1,000 in a single action, which he characterized as both unprecedented and detrimental to disadvantaged populations.

KTR highlighted the practical consequences of the price surge, noting that commercial LPG cylinders in Hyderabad have climbed to ₹3,315. He cautioned that this escalation poses significant threats to hotels, small enterprises, and self-employed individuals operating in the city.

According to KTR, the elevated fuel expenses risk triggering an uptick in food prices, potentially forcing numerous hospitality establishments to shut their doors. Such closures, he warned, could jeopardize employment for lakhs of workers, with conditions deteriorating further should fuel costs continue their upward trajectory.

The BRS leader extended his critique to the Centre's fuel pricing mechanisms, contending that taxation-driven price increases have fueled inflation and contributed to rupee depreciation. He called upon opposition movements nationwide to coordinate efforts against fuel price escalations, urging unified action at the national level.

KTR pressed the Union government to immediately withdraw the elevated pricing on LPG, petrol, and diesel, framing such action as essential for alleviating the financial strain on ordinary citizens.
