Lava Introduces Shark 2 5G Budget Smartphone With 6000mAh Battery and 120Hz Screen at Rs 11,999

Chennai: Lava International Limited, India's homegrown smartphone manufacturer, has unveiled the Shark 2 5G, marking its latest entry into the affordable 5G market segment. The device carries a price tag of Rs 11,999 and will become available through Lava's retail channels beginning June 10.

The Shark 2 5G represents the continuation of Lava's best-performing lineup from 2025, engineered to appeal to value-conscious consumers seeking practical features. The handset will be offered in two finishes: Sonar Gold and Arya Blue.

Sumit Singh, Senior Vice President and Head of Product at Lava International Limited, remarked that the Shark series aims to enhance the user experience within the budget 5G category. He highlighted the device's 6000mAh battery capacity for extended usage, IP64 rating for improved durability, and uncluttered Android operating system without pre-installed bloatware. Singh noted that these features—quality build, data protection, durability, and performance—set new expectations for affordable 5G smartphones.

Display and Build Quality

The Shark 2 5G features a 17.13cm (6.75-inch) HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering a smooth visual experience for content consumption. The battery supports approximately 815 minutes of YouTube streaming and up to 743 minutes of active screen time, enabling reliable daily usage. The device is constructed to withstand dust and water exposure through its IP64 rating, providing protection during routine handling.

Processing Power and Battery

The smartphone runs on an Octa-core 6nm UNISOC T8200 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable with up to 4GB of virtual RAM. According to AnTuTu 11 benchmarks, the device achieves scores exceeding 500,000, positioning it to handle multitasking and entertainment applications efficiently. The 6000mAh battery includes support for 18W rapid charging technology.

Camera and Software

Photography capabilities include a 13-megapixel rear camera with AI enhancements and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device operates on Clean Android 16, which eliminates bloatware and advertisements. It supports India's major 5G frequency bands for nationwide connectivity.

Lava is providing complimentary in-home service assistance as part of its after-sales commitment. The Shark 2 5G will be accessible through various financing options at authorized retailers and service centers from June 10, 2026. The standard package includes a protective case, USB Type-C cable, and a 10W charger.
