BRS Leader KTR Mobilises Warangal Farmers Over Unfulfilled Government Pledges

Hyderabad: K. T. Rama Rao, working president of the BRS and a state legislator, has announced plans to organise a farmers' demonstration in Warangal, levelling charges that the Congress administration has reneged on commitments to the agricultural sector.
In remarks made on Tuesday, KTR contended that the governing party had systematically let down farmers across multiple fronts. He specifically referenced the Warangal Farmers' Declaration, whose provisions he said remain unimplemented to date.
The BRS leader confirmed his participation in a protest gathering scheduled for May 6 in Warangal, stating that the event would draw attention to the hardships confronting farming communities in the region.
Agricultural Crisis Deepens Under Current Administration
According to KTR, the farming sector has deteriorated significantly since Congress assumed office. Among the pressing challenges he identified were inadequate supplies of fertilisers and seeds, delays in government procurement operations, and recurrent power supply interruptions.
He further asserted that farmer distress has intensified, pointing to an alarming uptick in agricultural suicides. Calling for collective action, KTR pledged that the BRS would remain a steadfast ally of the farming community.
District-level party functionaries underscored disruptions in the procurement cycle for paddy and maize across Warangal, indicating that protest activities would be scaled up in the coming weeks as the party mobilises its grassroots network.
Electoral Oversight Becomes Part of Party Strategy
During the same meeting, KTR also outlined party organisational initiatives for Warangal. He instructed party workers to maintain vigilant oversight of the Election Commission's voter list revision exercise.
KTR designated the Special Intensive Revision programme as a matter requiring immediate attention, directing cadres to guard against procedural irregularities and fraudulent voter enrollments. Simultaneously, he stressed the importance of ensuring comprehensive registration of all eligible voters and protecting the voting rights of every citizen.
To facilitate coordination during the revision process, KTR recommended the creation of a Booth-Level Assistant roster. He further directed party representatives to coordinate closely with state officials conducting the exercise, framing these measures as essential groundwork for strengthening the party's readiness for forthcoming electoral contests.
