BRS Chief Calls on Party Workers to Aid Farmers Devastated by Unseasonal Rains in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao has called upon party workers to extend assistance to farmers throughout Telangana who have suffered significant damage from unseasonal rains that lashed the state over the previous two days.
Speaking on the agricultural crisis, KTR highlighted the severe financial impact on farming communities, noting that paddy and maize stored in market yards and procurement centres across the state have been extensively damaged by the rainfall.
The BRS leader has instructed party officials and workers to visit affected market yards and procurement centres without delay to assess the situation and provide ground-level support.
KTR attributed the crisis to what he described as administrative lapses and insufficient preparation by the Congress government, stating that these failures have compounded the difficulties faced by the farming community.
Demands for Government Action
Addressing the immediate needs of affected farmers, KTR has called on the government to procure rain-soaked paddy, maize, and other grain stocks at minimum support price, without imposing deductions based on moisture content or quality parameters.
Beyond procurement measures, the BRS leader has urged the administration to distribute adequate tarpaulin covers to farmers expeditiously, enabling them to shield their remaining grain reserves from additional weather-related damage.
KTR has also demanded the urgent restoration of electricity connections to market yards that have been impacted by the recent rains, recognizing the critical role of power supply in storage and handling operations.
The BRS working president has emphasized the need for the government to prioritize crop procurement operations and implement comprehensive support mechanisms to shield farmers from mounting financial losses.
