KTR Highlights TIMS Hospitals as Vision for Premium Public Healthcare in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: K.T. Rama Rao, Working President of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi and a former minister, highlighted the previous administration's commitment to developing tertiary care facilities when he visited the Sanathnagar TIMS hospital construction site on Friday.

During his inspection of the ongoing work, Rama Rao outlined how the healthcare infrastructure project was conceived to deliver medical services comparable to AIIMS standards across Hyderabad. He noted that facilities like Gandhi Hospital and Osmania Hospital had historically borne the primary responsibility for managing patient volumes in the city before the TIMS expansion.

The Sanathnagar facility is being developed across a 22-acre plot with an investment of approximately Rs 1,200 crore. Once operational, the complex will house 300 ICU beds and accommodate treatment for a substantial patient population. The infrastructure includes 16 operation theatres alongside MRI and CT scanning capabilities for diagnostic purposes.

The hospital design incorporates dedicated research facilities focused on kidney diseases and related specializations. Additional amenities include a 200-bed dharamshala for patient attendants, parking accommodating 1,000 vehicles, and an emergency access ramp.

Rama Rao recalled that the previous government had established TIMS hospitals at three locations: Sanathnagar, LB Nagar, and Alwal. He also referenced a 2,000-bed super-speciality facility currently under construction in Warangal. Beyond these flagship projects, the state government had expanded the National Institute of Medical Sciences and rolled out 350 primary health clinics across various neighborhoods to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.

The leader contended that the Sanathnagar hospital would have commenced services two years prior had the administration remained in office. He urged the current government to expedite completion of pending construction phases and open the facility to the public without further delay.

Rama Rao emphasized that TIMS represents the state's effort to establish a government medical system staffed with the highest concentration of qualified medical personnel in the country.
