BRS Chief KTR Calls for Removal of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Over Son's POCSO Arrest

Hyderabad: The BRS Working President has intensified calls for the ouster of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay from his Cabinet post in the wake of his son Bhagirath's arrest in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case.
Speaking at the 'Na Booth-Na Vishva' programme in LB Nagar on Sunday, KTR voiced sharp criticism of the government's handling of the matter, contending that authorities have not taken sufficient action to ensure justice for the alleged victim.
The BRS leader levelled accusations at both the Congress and the BJP, asserting that both parties have worked to undermine the case. He maintained that only the BRS has genuinely pursued justice for the victim and highlighted what he described as a complete breakdown in law and order across Telangana over the preceding two-and-a-half years.
Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship "Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao" campaign, KTR argued that the initiative has amounted to mere rhetoric without substantive action. He underscored that the issuance of a lookout circular against the son of a serving Union Minister was an unprecedented occurrence in the country.
KTR raised concerns about the impartiality of the ongoing investigation, asserting that allowing Bandi Sanjay to remain in his ministerial role would compromise the probe's credibility. He alleged that the minister had concealed the accused for approximately nine days following the emergence of the case.
The BRS leader further contended that deliberate efforts have been made to weaken the case by intimidating the victim's family members. In his view, permitting such individuals to hold positions of power represents a failure not only for Telangana but for the nation as a whole.
KTR pressed for decisive measures and called for the investigation to proceed free from political interference. As of the time of reporting, neither Bandi Sanjay nor the BJP has issued a formal response to KTR's statements.
