BRS Leader KTR Challenges Congress on Unfulfilled Farmer Pledges at Warangal Rally

Hyderabad: At a BRS rally in Warangal on Wednesday, working president KT Rama Rao mounted a sharp offensive against the Congress party, asserting that it has systematically betrayed farming communities through broken electoral commitments.
Speaking at the 'Rythu Sangrama Sadasu' event, KTR characterised Warangal as a district steeped in historical resistance and suggested that renewed political mobilisation from the region could challenge anti-farmer interests. He framed the gathering as an opportunity to highlight what he termed systematic deception of cultivators under the current Congress administration.
The BRS leader referenced the farmer declaration that Congress had unveiled in Warangal four years prior, noting that the party had articulated numerous pledges in the run-up to elections. According to KTR, these commitments have remained unfulfilled since Congress assumed power. He specifically questioned the status of 34 promises embedded within that declaration, suggesting that farmers who placed their trust in the party and cast their votes accordingly now endure considerable suffering.
KTR directed particular criticism at the Congress government's failure to realise promises within the stipulated 100-day implementation window, dismissing the farmer declaration itself as lacking substance. He also targeted national Congress figure Rahul Gandhi and state Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in his remarks.
A central point of contention involved agricultural support levels. The BRS leader recalled that Congress had criticised the previous BRS government's Rythu Bandhu scheme, which provided ₹10,000 per acre assistance, while promising ₹15,000 per acre under its own framework. KTR contended that the Congress government has failed to disburse the full promised amount to cultivators.
He additionally questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's frequent travels to Delhi, suggesting these visits have yielded minimal tangible benefit for Telangana's farming sector. KTR cautioned that mounting public discontent with Congress leadership could escalate should delays in paddy procurement persist across the state.
