BRS Leader KTR Accuses BJP of Double Standards in Handling of POCSO Case Against Minister's Son

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi's working president KT Rama Rao has launched a scathing critique of the BJP, contending that the party has mishandled a POCSO case filed against Bandi Sai Bhageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay.
In his attack, KTR charged the BJP with practising dual standards while handling the matter. He pointed out that the party champions slogans such as "One Nation-One Tax" and "One Nation-One Election" as it campaigns across India. Yet, he asserted, the BJP employs divergent norms when the accused are relatives of senior party figures.
The BRS leader drew a sharp distinction in how the law is being administered. He contended that the authorities are enforcing one set of rules for the offspring of Union ministers while applying an entirely different approach to members of the general public. According to KTR, the POCSO legislation should function uniformly for all individuals without exception.
KTR voiced these concerns in a message posted on the social media platform X. His criticism also targeted the police's initial approach to the case, specifically their choice of legal provisions. He alleged that investigators only escalated the charges following public backlash regarding their investigative conduct.
The controversy has intensified political tensions, with the BRS leader using the case to highlight what he describes as preferential treatment afforded to families connected to ruling coalition members.
