BRS MLA Pushes for Accurate Voter Rolls During Special Revision Exercise

Hyderabad: K.P. Vivekanand, the BRS Legislature Party whip and Member of the Legislative Assembly, has made an urgent appeal to party functionaries and ground-level operatives to verify that all eligible residents are properly registered in the voter rolls as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative.

The MLA convened an awareness session at the BRS headquarters in Chintal, located within Kutbullapur constituency, following guidance from BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao. During the gathering, Vivekanand elaborated on the operational framework, regulatory requirements, and protective measures involved in the SIR programme.

He underscored that participation in elections represents both a fundamental right and a civic obligation for all citizens. Vivekanand stressed that party representatives and Block-Level Officers must work to enable every qualified voter to exercise their franchise without impediments.

The Special Intensive Revision exercise, according to Vivekanand, is being carried out by the Election Commission using demographic information from 2002. The initiative is designed to distinguish legitimate voters from duplicate registrations and clean up the electoral rolls.

Through this process, the authorities will locate voters who have permanently relocated elsewhere, identify fraudulent entries, consolidate family voter information, register newly eligible voters, and rectify inaccuracies in existing voter particulars.

Vivekanand called upon party officials, community welfare representatives, senior residents, and younger party members to undertake public education campaigns regarding the programme. He requested their cooperation with election authorities to facilitate smooth execution of the revision process.

He emphasised that party workers and field officers must maintain vigilance to prevent errors from compromising the integrity of the voter list.

In addition to the electoral matters, Vivekanand addressed the party's forthcoming membership recruitment initiative and the establishment of fresh organisational structures under Chandrashekar Rao's supervision. He motivated party cadres to focus on organisational consolidation and broadening the party's presence across communities.

The meeting drew participation from former corporator Rasheeda Mohammed Rafi, prominent party figures, representatives of community organisations, female party leaders, and grassroots party volunteers.
