BRS Leader Calls for Union Minister's Resignation Over Son's Legal Case

Hyderabad: A prominent opposition legislator has intensified pressure on a senior Union minister to step down, citing inaction in a criminal case filed against the minister's son.

At a press gathering held in Jagadgirigutta, BRS MLA KP Vivekanand leveled serious accusations against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The Qutbullapur representative alleged that the two leaders were jointly working to undermine the investigation into Bandi Bhagirath's case.

Vivekanand contended that despite police registering a formal case against the minister's son, no arrest has been made. He suggested that the authorities were deliberately prolonging the process and accused both the BJP leader and the state administration of harassing the victim's family to shield the accused.

"Those who cannot secure justice for a minor girl are unfit to safeguard the interests of the public," the MLA stated, questioning whether the legal system applied different standards to disadvantaged citizens compared to the powerful and well-connected.

The opposition leader emphasized that the government appeared more focused on protecting Bandi Sanjay's son than ensuring accountability. He called for the minister to take personal responsibility for his son's actions and tender his resignation without delay.

Vivekanand also appealed to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to treat the matter with appropriate seriousness and guarantee fair proceedings for the victim and her family. He warned that the BRS would continue advocating for justice if the state government failed to act.

The MLA stressed that the victim's family required both protection and an impartial inquiry free from political considerations. He reiterated that Bandi Sanjay's resignation was essential to restore faith in the investigation and ensure its integrity.

"Unless the minister steps down, public confidence in this process cannot be restored," Vivekanand concluded, signaling that the opposition party would maintain pressure on this issue.
