Dubbaka MLA Walks Out of Praja Palana Event, Citing Farmer Distress in Telangana

Hyderabad — Dubbaka MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy staged a public protest after abandoning the Praja Palana celebrations, using the occasion to voice sharp criticism of the Congress administration's handling of agricultural concerns across Telangana.
During a meeting of public representatives in Dubbaka, the MLA attempted to address the plight of farmers congregating at procurement centres and warehouses to offload their harvest. According to his account, officials cut his microphone as he began discussing agricultural grievances. In response, he exited the proceedings and launched a demonstration against the state government.
Prabhakar Reddy characterized the festive event as poorly timed, arguing that celebrations were inappropriate when cultivators faced genuine hardship. He questioned what achievements the Congress government could claim during its two-and-a-half years in office.
The MLA pointed to infrastructure developed under the previous administration, specifically citing irrigation projects like Mallannasagar established by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He contended that the current government had neglected canal upkeep, compromising water availability to farming communities. Additionally, he challenged officials to clarify how irrigation water currently flows into canals, given their criticism of the Kaleshwaram project.
Prabhakar Reddy asserted that the district administration had failed to effectively oversee government operations, with sectors including rural development and irrigation experiencing decline under Congress rule. He referenced welfare initiatives from the previous BRS government, including twenty-four-hour free electricity, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, farmer support platforms, and warehouse infrastructure, suggesting that agricultural confidence had eroded.
The MLA further alleged that traditional rural livelihoods had deteriorated following the discontinuation of fish and sheep distribution schemes. Villages, he noted, confronted drinking water scarcity as ponds and tanks remained clogged with sediment.
Prabhakar Reddy claimed gram panchayats had not received allocated funds and insisted that communities sought tangible development rather than ceremonial events and progress announcements. He called for the appointment of dedicated officers to expedite paddy procurement operations and urged the Congress government to deliver on electoral commitments instead of organizing public celebrations.
