Telangana's Roads Minister Discusses Highway Expansion Plans with NHAI Leadership

Hyderabad — State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy convened discussions with NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav regarding several critical highway infrastructure initiatives affecting Telangana.
During the meeting held in Hyderabad, the Minister examined the status of the Regional Ring Road development and plans to widen the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65). He pressed the NHAI to accelerate the eight-lane widening project on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada corridor, citing the alarming frequency of road accidents on the stretch that has earned it the grim moniker of a "death road".
A significant proposal under consideration involves constructing a 7.1-km double-decker elevated corridor linking LB Nagar to Hayathnagar along NH-65. The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has already forwarded the Detailed Project Report to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for approval.
The NHAI Chairman reported that the tender process for the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway expansion has reached completion, with officials preparing to commence Regional Ring Road construction activities in the near term.
Komatireddy highlighted various NHAI projects currently underway and in the pipeline across Telangana, emphasizing their significance to the state's broader development agenda. He called upon the NHAI to prioritize accelerating these initiatives.
The delegation included Roads and Buildings Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Special Secretary Pravinya, and NHAI Regional Officer Shiva Shankar. Chief Engineers Dharma Reddy and Rajeswar Reddy from the Roads and Buildings department also participated in the discussions.
