Kishan Reddy Accuses Telangana Government of Biased HYDRAA Enforcement

Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has accused the Telangana administration of applying HYDRAA enforcement measures unevenly, targeting ordinary residents while overlooking similar violations by politically connected institutions.
In remarks posted on X on Sunday, Kishan Reddy contended that the Congress government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has prioritized swift action against common people while neglecting to take comparable steps regarding the Barrister Fatima Owaisi Educational Campus.
The campus, he noted, sits within both the Full Tank Level and buffer zone of Salkam Cheruvu but has apparently escaped the enforcement scrutiny directed at other properties. Kishan Reddy suggested the government was prioritizing the political interests of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) over equitable enforcement of regulations.
High Court has noted delays, says minister
Kishan Reddy pointed out that the Telangana High Court has already observed delays in addressing the matter, with the court having sought records from HYDRAA and the Education Department. Yet, he claimed, the government has not demonstrated the same urgency in this case as it shows when pursuing violations by the general public.
The minister further contended that the Congress government was conflating MIM representation with the broader Muslim community. He highlighted that HYDRAA demolitions have impacted economically disadvantaged Muslim families, but neither MIM nor Congress has advocated for them—a contrast he attributed to vote-bank considerations.
Allegations of political favouritism
Kishan Reddy characterized the situation as emblematic of what he termed vote-bank politics by Congress and double standards by MIM. He argued that the government was shielding political allies rather than enforcing regulations uniformly across all segments of society.
The Union Minister called on the Telangana government to cease what he described as discriminatory enforcement and political bias. He stressed that the law must be applied consistently to all residents and that public land and water bodies require protection without regard to political affiliation. He also warned that such selective HYDRAA actions undermine public trust in the administration's impartiality.
