BRS Questions Fairness of Khairatabad 2BHK Housing Distribution Process

Hyderabad: Questions have been raised over the allocation of 210 two-bedroom housing units constructed opposite IMAX Theatre in Khairatabad, with BRS leader and MLC Dasoju Sravan highlighting what he describes as systematic irregularities in the distribution process.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan on Friday to assembled beneficiaries and residents, Sravan contended that the Congress government and Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender have diverted homes intended for economically disadvantaged families and those who originally surrendered their land for the project.

The housing complex was developed after the state acquired land from local residents with promises of housing benefits in return. However, Sravan alleged that authorities have not fulfilled these commitments to the families who relinquished their property. He pointed to instances where genuine eligible recipients continue awaiting their allocations while individuals with political connections have reportedly been prioritised.

Sravan called for the cancellation of what he characterised as unlawful allotments and demanded that families who contributed land to the project receive priority in the distribution. He also pressed for full transparency in the allocation procedure, advocating for information disclosures under the Right to Information Act.

Highlighting specific cases, Sravan referenced families who surrendered significant land holdings in good faith. One family, he noted, gave up two separate plots of 120 square yards each. He also drew attention to a woman with disabilities who reportedly surrendered her property following official assurances of eventual housing benefits.

Sravan asserted that withholding housing allocations from such families constitutes a grave breach of justice. He further claimed that local officials and political representatives have shown preferential treatment towards Congress party workers, party loyalists, and intermediaries during the allotment phase.

Warning of potential consequences, Sravan indicated that residents facing continued injustice may resort to large-scale protests. He appealed to the government to implement corrective steps without delay and restore equity for all qualifying participants in the Khairatabad 2BHK Housing scheme.
