Hyderabad — Kalvakuntla Kavitha, president of the Telangana Rakshana Sena, has lashed out at the state administration for constituting a Telangana activists committee without including any women members, describing the omission as a slight to the female participants who played active roles in the Telangana movement.

Speaking at joint programmes and land agitation events organised by the Telangana Rakshana Sena and various activists' associations, Kavitha underscored that the complete absence of women on the panel disrespected those who contributed to the movement. She pressed the government to allocate 250-square-yard house sites to Telangana movement activists as part of the State Formation Day observance scheduled for June 2. Additionally, she sought fighter pensions for the families of those who died during the movement.

Kavitha highlighted that persistent pressure from activists had compelled the Congress government to establish the committee through sustained demonstrations and protests. She criticised the Congress party's tendency to use committees as a mechanism to postpone implementation of decisions. The Telangana Rakshana Sena leader cautioned that activists would escalate their agitation unless the government began fulfilling its commitments by June 2.

The Revanth Reddy administration recently constituted the special committee tasked with identifying Telangana movement activists and formulating recommendations for their recognition. K. Keshava Rao was named chairman of the panel, with Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and MLCs Kodandaram, Addanki Dayakar, Ramulu Naik, and Shobhan Reddy serving as members.

The committee's mandate includes identifying activists involved in the Telangana movement, recommending measures for their formal recognition, and suggesting welfare initiatives for their benefit. The government formalised the committee's establishment through Government Order No. 679.
