Kavitha Blames Both BRS and Congress for Palamuru-Rangareddy Project Stalled Progress

Kalvakuntla Kavitha, president of the Telangana Rakshana Sena, has levelled scathing accusations against both the BRS and Congress parties, contending that they have systematically sabotaged the Palamuru-Rangareddy project to benefit from corrupt commissions.
Speaking at the 'Palamuru-Rangareddy Project Sadhana Sabha' in Jilled Chowdari Guda within Rangareddy district, Kavitha painted a picture of systematic failure across two administrations. She charged that the BRS, despite criticising Andhra Pradesh leaders to win electoral support, subsequently engaged in widespread corruption under the guise of irrigation development during its decade-long governance.
The TRS leader pointed to the financial scale of the alleged mismanagement, asserting that the previous BRS regime invested Rs.33,000 crore in the project yet failed to deliver irrigation water to even 33 acres. She further alleged that a senior party functionary collaborated with contractors to alter the project's design for personal gain, shifting the water source from Jurala to Srisailam—a modification she described as a grave blunder that precipitated conflicts with Andhra Pradesh.
Turning her criticism toward the incumbent Congress administration, Kavitha questioned the sincerity of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's public statements about project progress. She maintained that substantive construction work has not commenced, while simultaneously alleging that the government has authorised bill payments totalling Rs.6,000 crore purportedly for the project, with these funds allegedly siphoned through commission-sharing arrangements that extend to Congress legislators.
Kavitha announced her party's intention to organise a padayatra against the Congress government should work not resume before Dasara. Should her party gain electoral power, she pledged to expand irrigation coverage to 10 lakh acres under the project and establish a dedicated Water Commission to address irrigation challenges comprehensively.
The party chief also appealed to the public to petition Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant national project status to Palamuru-Rangareddy, potentially unlocking additional central government resources and oversight.
