TRS Chief Kavitha Presses for Muharram Funding at Historic Hyderabad Shrine

Hyderabad: During a Monday visit to the centuries-old Bibi-ka-Alam shrine at Darulshifa, Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha raised urgent demands for the allocation of funds needed to organize Muharram festivities. She criticized the government for inadequate preparation of the religious observances and called for swift release of financial resources to support Ashur Khanas across the city.

At the Muharram mourning ceremonies, Kavitha reflected on the spiritual significance of the occasion, noting that it honors the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain during the Battle of Karbala. She encouraged attendees to draw strength from his legacy of devotion to the principles of justice, humanity, and truth.

The TRS leader also spoke of Hyderabad's distinctive legacy of interfaith coexistence. She noted that the city's residents have long participated in celebrations across religious communities—a tradition she traced to the Nizam period that continues to define Hyderabad's secular character.

Pressing for Delayed Welfare Allocations

Kavitha contended that the government had sidelined Muharram preparations despite their cultural and religious importance. She insisted that authorities release pending allocations designated for Ashur Khanas promptly to guarantee the successful execution of observances.

Drawing on historical memory, Kavitha referenced the Bibi-ka-Alam procession, once famous for featuring a ceremonial elephant as a central attraction. She underscored the procession's enduring significance as a marker of Hyderabad's religious and cultural identity.

Beyond the immediate Muharram concerns, Kavitha alleged that budget commitments for Muslim minority welfare existed merely as administrative formalities. She pressed the government to disburse overdue minority assistance funds without further delay and ensure that budgeted resources reach their designated recipients.

The visit coincided with ongoing Muharram commemorations throughout Hyderabad and served to highlight gaps in funding for religious institutions and schemes benefiting minority communities.
