Hyderabad police officers successfully prevented a tragedy when they rescued a 33-year-old man from the railway tracks near Kachiguda Railway Station late Thursday evening.

The emergency services received notification around 11 pm on May 14 after Chaderghat Police Station fielded a Dial 100 call about an individual positioned on the tracks. Officers arrived at the scene with urgency and discovered the man lying directly in the path of an approaching Vande Bharat Express train.

Acting swiftly, the police team pulled the individual to safety just before the train arrived at the location.

Following preliminary questioning, authorities identified the man as Madhav, originally from Bidar in Karnataka, who had been residing in Malakpet with his mother and sister. According to police accounts, the incident followed a family dispute with his sister. Madhav had consumed alcohol before heading to the tracks with the intention of ending his life.

Once at the location, however, his resolve wavered. The effects of alcohol left him unable to move freely, and fear overcame him. He then used his phone to contact emergency services and request assistance.

The Kachiguda Police subsequently transferred Madhav to Government Railway Police custody, where he received counselling and access to additional support services.
