Hyderabad: The state government will roll out a comprehensive Tourism Week initiative spanning May 18 to 23, with Minister Jupally Krishna Rao presenting the action plan on Friday. The programme represents a key component of the administration's Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika framework and the broader "99-Day Action Plan."

The brochure was unveiled at the Minister's office in the Secretariat, attended by Tourism, Culture and Archaeology Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad and Tourism Director Laxman Ranjith Naik. The formal inauguration will take place at the State Museum on May 18, coinciding with International Museum Day celebrations.

The week-long initiative aims to highlight Telangana's rich tourism landscape while generating awareness about the economic and employment potential of tourism-driven growth. Coordinated efforts involving the departments of Language and Culture, Heritage and NITHM will feature heritage walks, awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives at tourist sites and engagement with tourism influencers. District-level promotional activities will also run concurrently.

The state boasts numerous significant destinations that draw visitors, including Ramappa Temple, Nagarjuna Sagar, Buddha Vanam, Alampur Jogulamba Temple, Laknavaram Lake, Bogatha Waterfalls, Paigah Tombs, Raymond's Tombs, Gunfoundry, Khazana Building, Panagal Museum and heritage structures in Warangal. Krishna Rao emphasised that the government is pursuing integrated tourism development through infrastructure enhancement, heritage preservation and cultural tourism initiatives.

A series of cultural events will enliven the celebrations, with folk performances, classical dance recitals, literary events and music concerts scheduled at Ravindra Bharati and district headquarters across the state.

The week concludes with Tourism Conclave 2026 on May 23, bringing together tourism stakeholders, hospitality professionals and policymakers. The conclave, themed "Destination Telangana: Strategies for the Next Frontier of Tourism," will serve as a platform for deliberating future approaches to strengthen the state's tourism sector. Krishna Rao stated that the Tourism Week will reinforce Telangana's position as a dynamic tourism destination while advancing inclusive development objectives.
