Hyderabad: In a show of administrative oversight, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao made his way to two government medical facilities in Kollapur on Saturday, carrying out unannounced inspections to assess the quality of healthcare delivery and patient amenities.

Arriving on a Bullet motorcycle, the minister first visited the Area Hospital in Kollapur town, where he spent time speaking directly with patients about their treatment experience and the care they were receiving. His queries to the hospital workforce centred on doctor attendance and staff presence, and he sought information about the superintendent overseeing the facility. Doctor Srinivas introduced himself to the minister during the interaction.

The minister raised concerns about the superintendent's capacity to manage both hospitals simultaneously, noting that such a dual responsibility would pose significant administrative challenges. He subsequently travelled by motorcycle to the Mother and Child Care Centre on Pentlavelli Road for a second inspection.

Addressing journalists after his visits, Jupally Krishna Rao highlighted that the government had invested Rs.22 crore in a 100-bed hospital facility sanctioned in 2018. He confirmed that major construction phases had concluded and the hospital stood ready for formal inauguration by Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha. The minister instructed the contractor to expedite completion of outstanding minor works.

The inspection also focused on infrastructure improvements for critical services. Jupally announced that a dedicated power connection had been established to guarantee steady electricity supply to the dialysis centre, with full operations commencing from Saturday. He committed to procuring an additional ambulance and expanding bed capacity and air-conditioning units at the dialysis centre, with funding to be sourced through corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Addressing food services, the minister directed that meal provision responsibilities be transferred to local contractors in place of the current vendor from a distant region, citing the need to generate employment within the community. He engaged Nagarkurnool District Collector G.V. Hemanth Keshav Patil by telephone to coordinate on this matter.

Recognising the hardship faced by dialysis patients waiting for public transport, Jupally sanctioned Rs.5 lakh for constructing a bus shelter adjacent to the hospital. He also tasked the municipal chairperson, vice-chairperson, and ward councillors with conducting regular visits to monitor the standard of medical care being delivered.

The inspection was attended by Municipal Chairperson Reddy Jyothi Satyam, Vice-Chairman Rahim Pasha, municipal councillors, and Congress party representatives.
