A new initiative to improve healthcare access has come to Kollapur, where a free electric vehicle service for pregnant women and mothers was formally inaugurated by Tourism, Culture and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.

The eco-friendly transport facility addresses persistent mobility challenges encountered by patients seeking care at the Maternal and Child Care Hospital. Many residents travelling from the town bus stand to the hospital facility located in the Ramapuram outskirts have historically struggled with transportation options.

The project materialized through collaboration between the government and two Hyderabad-based organisations—Good Universe and Arcesium—which provided crucial support in establishing the service.

During the launch event, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao highlighted how the complimentary transport would benefit economically disadvantaged patients, particularly those journeying from distant regions. He commended the participating organisations for their contribution to ensuring safe and accessible transportation for hospital patients.

The minister personally operated the electric battery vehicle as part of the programme activities.

The event brought together representatives from the supporting organisations, Anushka and Vamsi, alongside hospital superintendent Srinivasulu. Municipal leadership including Chairperson Reddy Jyothi Satyam and councillors Sujatha and Karni Shiva also attended the ceremony.
