JKLU and Nottingham Trent University Launch Design Education Partnership

Jaipur: In a move to expand educational horizons for design students, JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU) and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) have entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement aims to foster international academic pathways, strengthen industry-connected learning, and enhance cross-border student mobility.
The partnership creates multiple avenues for JKLU's B.Des. (Design) programme students across all specialisations to pursue their studies at one of the United Kingdom's premier and most recognised universities. Students will have access to structured progression options and the opportunity to spend a semester at NTU.
Under the collaboration framework, JKLU students can pursue 2+2 and 3+1 progression models, allowing them to complete either two or three years of their bachelor's degree at JKLU before transferring to NTU to complete the remaining one or two years. The degree options available at NTU include "Product Design" and "Furniture and Product Design".
Beyond the undergraduate level, the arrangement provides a 4+1 pathway for students to pursue postgraduate studies. After completing their bachelor's degree, eligible candidates may apply for master's programmes at NTU, with options including "Products & Furniture Design" and "Graphic Communication Design".
Dr. Vijaysekhar Chellaboina, Vice-Chancellor of JK Lakshmipat University, emphasised the strategic importance of the tie-up. "This partnership demonstrates JKLU's dedication to delivering world-class education alongside genuine international experience for our students. By establishing these academic routes, our design graduates will gain exposure to international standards, practice-based learning methodologies, and pathways to international employment and advanced study opportunities," he stated.
Students admitted through this collaboration will benefit from special tuition fee reductions not ordinarily offered through standard admission channels. The partnership also facilitates semester-long study opportunities at NTU for qualified candidates.
The arrangement is designed to strengthen students' international exposure, assist in portfolio building, and prepare them for careers in the global marketplace. NTU's established track record in graduate employment outcomes and industry partnerships will provide JKLU students with enhanced prospects for international career opportunities and further education in design-related fields.
Prospective students seeking admission through this partnership must meet several criteria: demonstrated academic achievement, portfolio assessment, interview evaluation where required, and English language proficiency standards such as IELTS scores.
The JKLU-NTU collaboration represents a significant development in transnational design education, creating substantive international opportunities for students seeking global academic and professional advancement.
