Indian cinema is set to reimagine the superhero genre with a distinctly intergenerational twist. Zee Studios has announced The Great Grand Superhero: Aliens Ka Aagman, a film that positions a grandfather—played by veteran actor Jackie Shroff—at the centre of a high-stakes adventure, a first for the country's cinema landscape.

The project departs from conventional superhero storytelling by foregrounding the emotional resilience and wisdom that come with age, rather than physical prowess. It draws inspiration from the magical realism of childhood, when grandparents seemed capable of extraordinary feats through their stories and presence. Rather than tracking shadowy rooftops and laboratories, the narrative unfolds within the warmth of an Indian family home, blending domestic intimacy with science fiction elements.

National Award-winning director Manish Saini helms the film, which takes root in the everyday fabric of Indian family life. The story centres on a schoolboy who stumbles upon a family secret: his grandfather possesses superherpowers. Keeping this revelation hidden becomes critical, as disclosure could precipitate an alien invasion—"Aliens Ka Aagman." Yet ambiguity threads through the premise: viewers will grapple with whether the boy's account represents genuine events or flights of childhood imagination.

Shroff shares the screen with an ensemble cast comprising Bhagyashree Dasani, Prateik Babbar, Sharat Saxena, Mihir Godbole, and Shivansh Chorge. Amdavad Films produces the venture under Zee Studios' banner.

Saini, recognised for his sensitive treatment of child-focused narratives, aims to craft a film that resonates across age groups through a blend of humour and nostalgia. Industry observers view the project as potentially transformative in how Indian audiences conceptualise heroism and strength.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release across the country in summer 2026.
