Traffic Restrictions Announced for IPL Match at Uppal Stadium

Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced significant traffic management measures ahead of an Indian Premier League encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru scheduled for May 22 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal.

Authorities expect substantial traffic congestion on key corridors from midday through midnight. The affected routes include those linking Nagole, Habsiguda, Boduppal, Amberpet and Ramanthapur with Uppal Junction.

To manage the anticipated volume, traffic authorities have implemented diversions specifically targeting commercial vehicles. Trucks, tippers, private buses and water tankers will be redirected away from the stadium area. The police have advised residents and commuters to steer clear of Uppal-bound stretches during match hours and utilise alternate routes instead.

Public transport options are being promoted as the preferred mode of travel. Spectators have been encouraged to take advantage of Metro Rail services and RTC buses to minimise vehicular congestion around the venue.

A comprehensive parking strategy has been developed to accommodate match-day traffic. Five designated parking zones have been identified, with four locations positioned outside the stadium within a 500-metre perimeter for general public use. These include Penguin Parking, TGIALA Parking, open grounds adjacent to the NSL Building and the Modern Bakery locality. An additional parking facility within the stadium premises has been reserved exclusively for VVIP and VIP pass holders.

The advisory was issued by the Traffic-II wing of Malkajgiri Police on Wednesday.
