IPEMA–Poultry India Celebrates World Veterinary Day with Emphasis on Food Safety and Public Health
Hyderabad hosted a significant observance of World Veterinary Day 2026, where the Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers Association–Poultry India collaborated with the Department of Poultry Science at the College of Veterinary Science (CVSc), Rajendranagar, to underscore the profession's importance in contemporary society.
The gathering centred on the theme "Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health," drawing notable figures including Vice Chancellor Dr M. Gnana Prakash in the chief guest capacity and Dr M. Udaya Kumar as guest of honour. Uday Singh Bayas, serving as President of IPEMA–Poultry India, attended as a special guest and emphasised the significance of fostering stronger relationships between educational institutions and the private sector.
Under the direction of Dr R.M.V. Prasad, the programme convened academics, research scholars, and industry representatives for substantive technical discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions. In his remarks, Bayas articulated the indispensable contribution of veterinary professionals towards maintaining food safety standards and protecting public health. He additionally highlighted the necessity of addressing prevalent myths surrounding poultry consumption and its nutritional dimensions.
An elocution competition formed a key component of the day's activities, with participants addressing the topic "Poultry Products and Lifestyle Diseases: Myths, Facts, and Veterinary Insights." Recognition was awarded to competition winners, fostering greater scientific literacy among the student community.
The technical sessions featured presentations by Dr Mujeeb Ather and Dr Srinivas Rama Raju, who examined career pathways within the poultry industry, business development opportunities, and emerging trends reshaping the sector. These discussions sought to inspire emerging professionals to consider varied career trajectories within poultry science and veterinary medicine.
The occasion demonstrated the expanding significance of veterinary expertise in safeguarding public health systems and the dynamic growth of India's poultry sector, serving simultaneously as a platform to cultivate the next generation of professionals in these fields.
