INTUC Central Women Workers Committee Launches Inaugural Souvenir on Women's Leadership and Labour Rights

New Delhi — The INTUC Central Women Workers Committee will formally unveil its first souvenir publication on May 10, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Shramik Kendra, 4 Bhai Veer Singh Marg, New Delhi, under the direction of Chairperson Devika Singh.

The publication marks a watershed moment for the committee, serving as a comprehensive record of the experiences, trials, successes, and visions of women workers and trade unionists throughout India. It emphasizes the critical role that women play in labour activism, organizational leadership, workplace respect, and financial independence.

Speaking at the occasion, Singh reflected on the significance of the document: "This souvenir transcends being merely a compilation of information; it embodies the narrative of our shared experience — capturing the hardships we have faced, the victories we have secured, and the ambitious goals we envision ahead. Women workers form the foundation of our communities and economies, yet their efforts frequently go unnoticed and underappreciated."

The committee has devoted the previous eighteen months to establishing an inclusive and robust foundation. This effort has included assembling a broad leadership collective featuring women representing various states, sectors, and age groups. During this period, the committee has conducted numerous consciousness-raising activities, training sessions, demonstrations, and advocacy work focused on strengthening women's engagement and voice in labour structures.

Singh articulated her objectives for advancing the movement: "We must work toward greater female representation in positions of authority and decision-making, and establish systems that ensure women workers achieve genuine economic autonomy through strengthened union frameworks and reliable assistance mechanisms."

The gathering will bring together key figures from the organization, including:

  • Devika Singh – Chairperson, INTUC Central Women Committee
  • Noorjahan Khan – Vice President
  • Uma Nagendramani – Secretary General
  • Ujjaini Sen – General Secretary
  • Bhavaneet Kaur, Sonia Sharma, Sanju Mahato, Bharati Singh, Banashree, and Rajniti – State Presidents
  • Rinku Roy – Treasurer

The occasion seeks to convene women leaders, grassroots activists, labour organization representatives, and community members to renew their dedication to advancing worker protections, gender equity, secure workplace conditions, and women-centred leadership development.
