Hyderabad's Niloufer Hospital held a special observance of International Nurses Day, bringing together senior government officials and healthcare administrators to recognise the profession's contributions to society.

Hyderabad In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended the event as the chief guest, alongside Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Sai Kumar, Hyderabad Collector Priyanka Ala, and District Medical and Health Officer Venkat. Hospital Superintendent Dr Vijay Kumar, RDO Ramakrishna, and nursing and hospital staff also participated in the gathering.

During the programme, Minister Prabhakar felicitated the nursing staff of Niloufer Hospital for their unwavering commitment to serving patients and communities.

In his address, the minister underscored that nursing fundamentally represents a calling centred on service and compassion. He stressed that acknowledging nurses' work was essential to recognising their profound impact on the healthcare system and patient outcomes.

The minister commended nurses for their steadfast dedication despite the demanding conditions and pressures they face within hospital settings. He emphasized that nursing professionals are instrumental in facilitating patient recovery through their attentive care, emotional support, and skilled service delivery.

Reflecting on Niloufer Hospital's legacy, Prabhakar noted that the institution has delivered paediatric healthcare services to the community for many decades. He highlighted that the hospital currently manages approximately 1,500 outpatient visits daily and maintains roughly 2,000 inpatient beds.

The minister characterised nurses as custodians of public health and the cornerstone of the medical profession, operating through their tireless commitment to patient welfare. He particularly referenced the extraordinary efforts nurses demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic, describing their contributions during that critical period as indelible and worthy of lasting remembrance.

Prabhakar further noted that nurses serve as beacons of human compassion and kindness, instilling hope and confidence in patients during vulnerable moments.

The minister also announced that appointment letters for nursing positions would be distributed later that evening by Damodar Raja Narasimha.
