Himalaya Wellness Backs Young Cricketers: Six Telangana Girls Among 100 Scholarship Recipients

The rising prominence of women's cricket in India has sparked a wave of enthusiasm among young girls seeking to pursue the sport professionally. Recognising this momentum, Himalaya Wellness has unveiled the recipients of its 1derWoman Cricket Scholarship Programme, naming 100 scholarship winners nationwide, including six girls from Telangana.
The initiative emerges at a pivotal moment for women's cricket in the country. With the Women's T20 World Cup capturing national attention, stadiums filling to capacity, and viewership reaching new highs, young girls across India have found fresh role models and aspirations in the sport. Yet for many, this inspiration has not translated into tangible pathways to pursue cricket seriously.
The 1derWoman Project addresses this gap by functioning as a digital-first learning platform tailored for girls between 10 and 15 years old. Beyond cricket fundamentals, the platform incorporates modules on building confidence, fostering discipline, managing the balance between academics and athletics, and creating structured routes from aspiration to achievement. Participants gain access to mentorship from established figures in women's cricket alongside skill-building content and personal development guidance.
Recognising that talent requires more than encouragement to flourish, Himalaya Wellness designed the programme around the specific obstacles young cricketers encounter. The scholarship provides direct financial assistance for coaching fees, training programmes, and equipment—addressing practical barriers that often impede girls from lower-income backgrounds from pursuing the sport.
The six scholarship recipients from Telangana hail from different regions and backgrounds across the state, collectively representing the broadening appeal of women's cricket and the urgent need for expanded access and support systems for emerging players.
Rajesh Krishnamurthy, Business Director of the Consumer Products Division at Himalaya Wellness, emphasised the company's philosophy: "At Himalaya, we believe meaningful impact happens when inspiration is paired with opportunity. Women's cricket has emerged as a powerful force of aspiration for young girls across India, and through 1derWoman, we wanted to create something that goes beyond awareness and gives young girls access to pathways that feel real and achievable. These 100 scholarships represent more than support for young athletes; they represent belief, potential and the beginning of many future journeys in the sport."
Ragini Hariharan, Marketing Director for Beauty & Personal Care at Himalaya Wellness, added: "Today, brands have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to culture by creating platforms that make a tangible difference in people's lives. Through 1derWoman, our objective was not just to celebrate women's cricket, but to create greater participation in it. The Project was built to transform inspiration into action and aspiration into opportunity. Celebrating these 100 young girls is a reflection of what becomes possible when talent is given access, encouragement and support."
The scholarship programme reflects a broader commitment by Himalaya Wellness to nurture confidence and self-belief among India's young female athletes. As the nation continues to elevate women's cricket on the international stage, these scholarship recipients—particularly those from Telangana—embody the future trajectory of the sport within the country.
