Indiramma Sarees Distributed to SHG Members Under Indira Mahila Shakti Initiative

Hyderabad has witnessed a fresh round of saree distributions targeting women members of Self-Help Groups as part of the government's Indira Mahila Shakti programme, underlining its commitment to advancing women's economic and social standing.

The initiative rolled out across multiple constituencies including Karwan, Musheerabad, Kavadiguda, Malakpet, Sanath Nagar, Yousufguda and surrounding areas. Women participating in Self-Help Groups received Indiramma sarees through this welfare scheme, which seeks to bolster community-based organisations and expand livelihood prospects for women.

A broad spectrum of stakeholders participated in the distribution events, including elected legislators, administrative officials, and GHMC representatives. The gatherings brought together MLAs, public figures, municipal authorities, Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Project Officers, Community Organisers, Resource Persons and members of Self-Help Groups.

According to government officials, the scheme aims to strengthen SHGs and foster increased female engagement in local development efforts. The programme also underscored the value of coordinated action in advancing equitable development and community welfare across the city.

Speaking at the events, participants reaffirmed their dedication to advancing women's interests through focused welfare programmes and institutional backing. They highlighted how robust SHGs can play a pivotal role in enabling financial self-sufficiency, social progress and enhanced economic conditions for women.

The Indira Mahila Shakti programme remains focused on expanding women's participation and influence in society through a range of capacity-building and empowerment schemes. Government representatives noted that such programmes create lasting avenues for women's advancement while simultaneously reinforcing the social fabric of communities throughout Hyderabad.
