Indiramma Housing Scheme Must Deliver Dignity to the Poor, Says Welfare Minister

Hyderabad: The Indiramma Housing scheme must serve as an exemplary welfare initiative across the erstwhile Nalgonda district, according to SC, ST Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, who underscored that providing homes to impoverished families represents far more than shelter—it embodies dignity, security, and social stability.

Speaking at a comprehensive review meeting on Housing and Revenue matters held at the Housing Corporation Headquarters on Thursday, the Minister highlighted the Telangana government's commitment to welfare-centred governance and transparent land administration reforms aimed at tackling rural poverty.

Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy presided over the gathering, which included Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, and Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy. Several MLAs, district collectors, and senior officials from the Revenue, Housing, and Forest departments participated in the discussions.

Targeting Vulnerable Populations

Adluri Laxman Kumar instructed the administration to guarantee that all eligible poor families receive benefits under the Indiramma Housing scheme promptly and equitably. The scheme must prioritize Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, minorities, persons with disabilities, single women, and other marginalised communities.

The Minister directed collectors to ensure timely release of subsequent instalments to those who have already received their initial housing assistance, stressing that consistent financial support would accelerate construction progress. He further emphasized the importance of coordination between elected representatives and field-level officials to strengthen grievance resolution and enhance implementation effectiveness.

Education, employment, and housing security together possess the potential to uplift poor households, the Minister observed, noting that the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy-led government is pursuing comprehensive welfare initiatives grounded in long-term vision for inclusive development and social justice.

Strengthening Land Administration

In addressing land administration reforms, Adluri Laxman Kumar called for closer collaboration between the Revenue and Forest departments to resolve longstanding land disputes. Transparent land records systems, he argued, would provide lasting remedies to rural conflicts.

The Minister issued a stern warning against corruption and irregularities in the scheme's administration, declaring that the government maintains zero tolerance for misconduct. Officials have been directed to operate with full accountability and transparency, ensuring that only genuinely deserving beneficiaries receive government support.
