Indiramma Housing Phase 2 Set to Launch in Adilabad on June 2

Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy declared on Tuesday that the second phase of Indiramma Housing will commence in Adilabad on June 2, marking Telangana Formation Day. A Cabinet meeting slated for May 21 will finalize the programme's implementation details.
The announcement came during a district-level assessment session held at the Housing Corporation Head Office in Hyderabad, where Revenue and Housing matters concerning the former Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts were reviewed. The gathering included Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Mohammed Azharuddin, alongside MPs, MLAs, MLCs, district officials, municipal commissioners, and other senior representatives.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration is pursuing this housing initiative to enable economically disadvantaged households to acquire their own homes. Addressing past policy failures, the Minister highlighted how the earlier government's two-bedroom housing programme had placed numerous units 20 to 30 kilometres from Hyderabad, creating hardship for residents whose employment and livelihoods remained in their original locations.
To rectify this approach, officials have been instructed to scout for land situated between 5 to 8 kilometres from where beneficiary families currently reside. The Minister mandated that proposals be formulated at the constituency level, drawing from government-owned parcels, slum rehabilitation sites, Bhoodan land, and deteriorating housing settlements. Elected representatives will be engaged in the site identification process.
A focused initiative has been ordered for distributing already-completed and partially-finished two-bedroom units. The Minister stipulated that beneficiary identification must be concluded by month's end. Additionally, authorities must guarantee essential services in housing colonies—including potable water supply, sewage systems, and power connections—are expedited.
Officials have also been directed to issue sanction letters to qualifying beneficiaries with house plots within Hyderabad's municipal boundaries by the end of May.
