Big Pitchure: India's Revolutionary Reality Show Transfers Filmmaking Control to Viewers

April 28, 2026

In a significant shift for Indian entertainment, Gammen Sports and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. has unveiled 'Big Pitchure', a nationwide reality show designed to give viewers direct involvement in film production. The initiative challenges audiences with a provocative question: having critiqued movies for years, can they create one?

The 15-week programme transforms spectators into storytellers, filmmakers, and producers, narrowing the perceived distance between audience expectations and the demanding realities of cinema. The finished product—a feature-length film developed through collective decision-making—will subsequently see theatrical distribution across the nation.

Streaming across five languages on JioHotstar, the show operates through two interconnected systems. The Starboard functions as an expansive digital repository, displaying story concepts, casting calls, and musical compositions submitted from throughout India with each episode. The Motherboard represents the creative core where viewers and established industry mentors progressively assemble the film's components, revealing the chosen actors, technical team, and screenplay as the competition advances.

"For years, audiences have watched their judgments reduced to star ratings on Friday evenings," said Mr. RAV, Producer at Gammen Sports and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. "Big Pitchure fundamentally alters this dynamic. We want people to understand the demands of cinematography and scriptwriting. Beyond entertainment, this represents an effort to build respect for filmmaking as a discipline while uncovering creative talent throughout India. We're eager to discover what emerges from the Motherboard."

The programme comprises weekly 60-minute episodes broadcast every Sunday over 15 weeks. Following the announcement of final selections, all winning participants will collaborate to produce the theatrical feature.

Five prominent actors will guide the show in their respective language versions: Vasishta N. Simha for Kannada, Bharath for Tamil, Indrajith Sukumaran for Malayalam, Navdeep for Telugu, and Vijay Raaz for Hindi. This multilingual approach enables participation from across the country.

"Kannada audiences have consistently championed cinema with genuine passion," noted Vasishta N. Simha, host of the Kannada edition. "Today, these devoted fans transition from spectators to decision-makers. I'm enthusiastic about leading this initiative and observing how regional talent shifts from criticism to creation. The nation deserves to witness that filmmaking carries as much drama as the final product."

Interested writers, performers, crew members, and composers can apply through the official platform at bigpitchure.in or via the dedicated mobile application. Audition sessions commence at Gopalan Mall in Bangalore from April 30th onwards.
