Indian Bank Joins National Drug Awareness Drive with Pledge Ceremony

Chennai — Indian Bank has taken part in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, a countrywide public awareness initiative that ran from June 17 through June 26, 2026. The campaign was organised by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, operating under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment of the Government of India.

The bank's participation included a pledge-taking ceremony held at its Corporate Office in Chennai, where attendees committed to combating substance abuse and the drug crisis affecting India.

Shri Binod Kumar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, led the pledge alongside Executive Directors Shri Ashutosh Choudhury and Shri Shiv Bajrang Singh. The commitment was also undertaken by all Chief General Managers, General Managers, and other senior leadership within the organisation. Those present reiterated their dedication to fostering awareness and building a society free from addiction.

As part of the broader campaign, Indian Bank has focused on educating its workforce regarding the consequences of drug misuse. Staff members were encouraged to register for the Nasha Mukti Pledge via an online portal. The bank also displayed awareness signage throughout its premises and surrounding areas, emphasising messages about living a life without substance abuse.

By engaging in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Indian Bank has demonstrated its backing for government-led initiatives centred on social welfare and community wellbeing. The bank's involvement underscores its commitment to fostering public consciousness and driving meaningful social progress.
