IIT Delhi Opens Admissions for Healthcare Industry 5.0 Executive Programme

The Continuing Education Programme at IIT Delhi has begun accepting registrations for the third batch of its Executive Programme in Healthcare for Industry 5.0, reflecting the sector's rapid transformation towards technology-driven, data-informed and patient-centred healthcare systems.

Prospective participants have until June 30, 2026 to submit applications. The programme will run for six months beginning August 22, 2026, delivered entirely online with live sessions held every Saturday from 4 pm to 6 pm.

India's digital health ecosystem is experiencing substantial expansion. The sector was valued at USD 14.50 billion in 2024 and is forecast to grow to USD 106.97 billion by 2033, representing a compound annual growth rate of 25.12 per cent between 2025 and 2033. This expansion is being fuelled by initiatives including the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, widespread adoption of telemedicine platforms, digital health records infrastructure and technology-enabled care delivery models.

The programme requires a bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or Medical disciplines—including MBBS, Pharmacy, Nursing, BDS or comparable qualifications—with a minimum of 50 per cent marks or 5.0 CGPA. The course fee is INR 1,30,000 plus GST, with an application fee of INR 500 plus GST.

Participants will engage with topics spanning healthcare fundamentals, operations management, pharmaceuticals and drug delivery systems, big data analytics, Industry 4.0 foundations and Industry 5.0 applications, risk management, regulatory compliance and a capstone project. The curriculum also covers emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, collaborative robotics, augmented and virtual reality, Internet of Things, cloud infrastructure, additive manufacturing and blockchain applications within healthcare contexts.

According to Prof. Dinesh Kalyanasundaram, Programme Coordinator and Associate Professor at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering at IIT Delhi, "Healthcare can no longer look at technology as an external layer. The next shift will come from professionals who can combine clinical understanding, engineering thinking and intelligent systems to improve patient outcomes, safety and efficiency. Industry 5.0 is about placing human expertise at the centre of this transformation."

The programme targets professionals employed in healthcare delivery, medical technology, hospital operations, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, diagnostics and related sectors. Successful participants will receive an e-Certificate of Completion from CEP, IIT Delhi, contingent on meeting specified criteria.
