Telangana Reshuffles Senior IAS Officers at HMDA and GHMC

Hyderabad witnessed a significant administrative reshuffle on Friday as the Telangana government transferred multiple IAS officers, bringing structural changes to key civic bodies.

The reorganisation saw Venkanna, previously serving as Joint Metropolitan Commissioner at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), elevated to the position of Municipal Commissioner at the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC).

In a reciprocal move, K. Chandrakala stepped into the role of Joint Metropolitan Commissioner at HMDA, having held the position of Shamshabad Zonal Commissioner and Additional Commissioner (Elections) at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Her new responsibilities encompass oversight of the Core Urban Region, Land Pooling, and Metro Rail operations, with her holding full additional charge of the post.

The transfer of Chandrakala has drawn considerable interest within administrative circles, particularly given her involvement in managing critical duties connected to the ongoing SIR (Special Investment Region) process. Notably, the government has not announced a replacement for her vacated position at GHMC, instead assigning her expanded duties at HMDA. This decision has generated considerable discussion among officials regarding the administrative implications and workload distribution.
