Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar has established a Special Investigation Team dedicated to apprehending members of Nepali criminal gangs suspected of perpetrating thefts, robberies, and other serious offences throughout the city.

The escalating involvement of Nepali gangs in criminal activities has become a growing concern for law enforcement authorities in Hyderabad. The newly formed unit will operate under the supervision of IT Cell Inspector Daniel Shanthi Kumar and comprises three sub-inspectors, two head constables, and 17 constables, as per the commissioner's official directives.

The investigation team will prioritize tracking down members affiliated with a gang led by Kalpana. Police allege that this criminal network was responsible for the murder of a former IPS officer's wife within the Jubilee Hills police station jurisdiction. Both Kalpana and her associates have reportedly absconded and remain at large.

Beyond this specific case, the SIT will also probe the broader involvement of Nepali gangs in other criminal incidents documented across Hyderabad. According to police statements, numerous individuals accused of high-profile crimes have managed to evade capture, presenting a significant obstacle to investigative efforts.

To address these challenges, the task force has initiated continuous surveillance operations and intelligence-driven initiatives aimed at locating and apprehending the fugitive suspects.
