A coordinated operation by Hyderabad Police's Commissioner's Task Force in the Shamshabad Zone has resulted in the seizure of over 170 restricted Oxytocin injections and the arrest of one individual involved in their unlawful distribution.

Officers apprehended Attheni Krishna, 45, a dairy farm operator, during the enforcement action. Two additional suspects—Khaled Ali, also known as Chatru Singh, and an individual named Suresh—have not yet been located.

The Illegal Supply Chain

Investigation into the case revealed that the accused network was sourcing Oxytocin injections from Gujarat and distributing them illegally to dairy operations across the city. The markup was substantial: Krishna purchased each vial for Rs 50 and subsequently retailed them to dairy farmers for between Rs 250 and Rs 300 per unit.

Health and Animal Welfare Concerns

The injections were being administered to buffaloes to artificially boost milk production—a practice that carries serious consequences. According to police statements, prolonged use of Oxytocin in livestock can trigger reproductive complications, uterine inflammation, mastitis, and diminished fertility.

The threat extends beyond animal health. Authorities cautioned that residual Oxytocin can contaminate milk destined for human consumption. Those regularly ingesting such milk face risks including hormonal disruption, accelerated puberty in children, and complications during pregnancy.

Enforcement Details

The Task Force confiscated 173 bottles of Oxytocin injections totalling 43.250 litres. The seized materials and the arrested individual were transferred to Pahadishareef Police Station for ongoing investigation. Police continue their search for the two remaining suspects in the case.
