Hyderabad Police Step Up Vigilance at Waterlogging Sites Amid Heavy Downpours

Hyderabad's police leadership has intensified oversight of the city's waterlogging hotspots as heavy rains continue to pound the region. Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, accompanied by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Joel Davis and DCP Traffic-I Avinash Kumar, undertook ground-level inspections to evaluate response preparedness and ensure unimpeded traffic flow.

The senior officials visited the GRT waterlogging site in Somajiguda to assess conditions firsthand and review existing safety protocols. Following this, they proceeded to inspect the frequently-affected area adjacent to Monappa Junction, where they evaluated the readiness of agencies and examined coordination mechanisms among different departments.

Sajjanar has directed officials to implement preventive strategies and expedite drainage clearance operations at identified vulnerable points across the city. He has particularly emphasised the importance of swift response systems and strengthened collaboration between departments to tackle monsoon-related challenges effectively.

Throughout the rainfall, senior officers and ground-level personnel have maintained continuous deployment at high-risk locations, keeping close watch on traffic conditions and overseeing field operations. Officials have also reviewed traffic management protocols at key intersections to mitigate disruptions caused by water accumulation on roads.

The police force has committed to round-the-clock monitoring of susceptible areas and rapid intervention in weather-related emergencies. The department's focus remains on protecting both public safety and ensuring mobility across the city during the monsoon season.
