Hyderabad Police Alert Citizens to MBBS Admission Fraud Schemes

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has issued a public advisory warning families and medical entrance exam candidates about the growing menace of MBBS admission fraud targeting NEET UG aspirants. The warning comes as unscrupulous agents continue to lure unsuspecting families with promises of medical seats at discounted rates.
Sajjanar highlighted that fraudsters are capitalizing on the high demand and social prestige associated with the medical profession. Parents are being particularly targeted with false assurances that their children can obtain MBBS admissions through management quota routes despite scoring poorly in NEET, all at significantly reduced fees.
The Commissioner also flagged a troubling trend involving agents promoting affordable medical education programs in countries including the Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, China, Armenia, and various Caribbean nations.
Previous Victims Lose Lakhs and Academic Years
According to Sajjanar, numerous families across Hyderabad have fallen victim to these fraud networks over the years, with substantial financial losses reported. Beyond monetary damage, many students have squandered critical academic years after enrolling based on fraudulent admission commitments.
To protect themselves, Sajjanar advised families to independently verify whether foreign medical colleges possess accreditation from the National Medical Commission before proceeding with admissions. He recommended consulting official institutional websites or contacting colleges directly to confirm legitimacy.
The Commissioner stressed that parents must refrain from handing cash to intermediaries or agents. All tuition and admission fees should be transferred exclusively to the official bank accounts of universities or colleges, he emphasized.
Residents encountering suspicious demands for money or questionable promises related to MBBS admissions are encouraged to dial 100 or visit their local police station to lodge complaints.
