Telangana CM Seeks Meeting with Railway Minister Over Metro Rail Issues

Hyderabad's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has approached Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy with a request to facilitate a meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to address outstanding concerns regarding the Hyderabad Metro Rail initiative.

The Chief Minister's correspondence, dated June 20, builds on an earlier letter sent on June 16. Key areas requiring resolution include challenges related to IRFC financing arrangements and the second phase of the metro expansion programme.

Revanth Reddy indicated his intention to be in New Delhi on June 22 and 23, during which he hopes to meet with the Railway Minister. He has asked Kishan Reddy to coordinate the meeting and provide scheduling details at the earliest convenience.

The Chief Minister emphasised that a direct engagement between the two sides would create an opportunity to comprehensively discuss unresolved matters and place all pertinent information on the record. He plans to bring relevant agreements and supporting documentation to substantiate the state's position during the discussions.

Characterising the metro undertaking as a vital infrastructure development for the city and state, Revanth Reddy stressed the urgency of resolving the outstanding issues. He underlined that prompt resolution would enable the authorities to adequately serve Hyderabad's expanding transportation requirements.
