Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 Takes Center Stage in New Delhi Ministerial Discussions

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has engaged in high-level talks with senior Union ministers in New Delhi to advance the state's Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 expansion project.

On Tuesday, Revanth Reddy held discussions with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, with Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy also present. The meeting centered on the metro expansion initiative, IRFC funding mechanisms, and other significant Telangana infrastructure projects.

The Chief Minister's visit to the capital involved multiple meetings aimed at garnering backing for key development proposals. A day earlier, on Monday, he met with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss the same metro expansion plans and the proposed IRFC loan, with Kishan Reddy's participation in that engagement as well.

The series of meetings brought together the key stakeholders to examine the metro expansion proposal in detail, assess funding needs, and review other critical projects for the state. These discussions assume particular importance given that the Telangana government has ramped up efforts to obtain approvals and financial backing for the metro initiative.

Previously, Revanth Reddy had voiced concerns about delays in the project, directing criticism toward both the Centre and Kishan Reddy over the matter. The current round of talks, however, demonstrated a collaborative approach among the ministers addressing urban development, railway infrastructure, and project finance matters.

Following his Monday meeting with Vaishnaw, the Chief Minister indicated that the discussions had proceeded on a positive trajectory. The subsequent engagement with Khattar drew attention to potential progress on the metro expansion and IRFC funding prospects.

Political observers have tracked the Delhi meetings with keen interest, with optimism building around potential advancements on Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 and the accompanying IRFC financing proposal.
