Telangana Targets Hyderabad's Transformation Into Global Hub Within Decade

Telangana's IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu outlined an ambitious blueprint to establish Hyderabad as a world-class metropolitan centre over the next ten years, anchored by strategic infrastructure investments and innovation initiatives.
Speaking at the NASSCOM GCC Summit 2026 in Mumbai on Thursday, the Minister detailed how the state government is pursuing the Telangana Rising Vision 2047 framework, which aims to boost the state's share of India's overall economic output to 10 per cent by 2047. The summit convened around the theme "Beyond Policy: Designed to Win the Global GCC Race."
Sridhar Babu drew attention to urbanisation challenges facing cities worldwide, where inadequate planning has led to infrastructure strain and urban deterioration. He asserted that Hyderabad would sidestep such pitfalls through deliberate infrastructure development and comprehensive long-range urban planning approaches.
Infrastructure and Innovation as Cornerstones
The state has initiated multiple large-scale projects to support this vision. Key initiatives include Bharat Future City, AI City, Metro Rail expansion, additional airport facilities, the Regional Ring Road, restoration efforts for the Musi river, Young India Skills University, and the AIKAM Innovation Hub.
The minister emphasised Hyderabad's growing appeal to Global Capability Centres, with establishments now spanning technology, financial services, life sciences, semiconductors, defence, consumer goods, hospitality, and space sectors. During the preceding year, over 70 GCCs were set up in the city—the highest number among Indian cities. The government intends to establish 100 additional GCCs in the current year.
Sridhar Babu projected that this expansion could generate roughly one lakh employment opportunities. The state is simultaneously developing a strategic plan to elevate GCCs beyond conventional support functions, positioning them as centres of global value creation.
Workforce and Global Ambitions
In his pitch to prospective investors, the Minister highlighted Hyderabad's access to qualified professionals and robust talent infrastructure. He called upon industrial leaders to champion the "Made in Telangana" initiative on the international stage.
NASSCOM Chairman Srikant and President Rajesh Nambiar were among those present at the summit.
